Kerry Wood reported stiffness in his right shoulder after getting to camp on Monday morning.
Wood complained of a problem after struggling in his appearance Sunday. "He obviously didn't have the same strength yesterday and didn't throw the ball as well and had some discomfort after the game," GM Jim Hendry said. "And today he had some more stiffness than normal than he's had earlier in the camp which was going smoothly for him besides his triceps. Has a little soreness, is going to be evaluated today by our people and we'll go from there." Wood is likely to begin the season on the

They should just release him, he can't stay healthy and he will never again be healthy. He should just retire, his arm is dead and he will never have a good season. He's a waste of a roster spot and should just be let go. Sucks to have your career end up the way his did.

Yeah it doesnt sound like he is getting much better - his sholder is playing up still and the fact its surgecially repaired means its probabally quite weak already.

For a Cubs fan, it is truely painful to watch the storlines of both Wood and Prior. They were awesome a couple years back. The Cubs are really cursed!

As for the weakness in Wood's arm. What do you expect when you have constant issues. You never really get a chance to build the strength. If it isn't a torn rotator cuff, it is tendenitis. Whatever.

Such a sad shame. With these two players healthy, the Cubs are a perennial World Series contender. But that is never going to happen. I don't understand the state of denial this team is in with these guys. They are done. Let them go.
