Default Mariners could acquire Benitez

The Mariners had a scout watch him the past week and they will probably offer Ben Broussard in exchange for Benitez. They probably won't make a deal unless the Giants eat up some of his contract.

As for me, a Dodgers fan. The Giants would be straight stupid if they wouldn't do this deal. He is young and has great potential. He has already shown a lot. He was traded from the Indians to the Mariners because of Travis Hafner being a 1B/DH as well, well that's what I think. Giants need to make this trade to get an extra bat, and young one too. Lance Niekro just won't cut it for the Giants imo.

ESPN's Buster Olney said that there is nothing to this rumor. The Mariners don't have any interest in Benitez.
