In a move planned since the day Eli Manning signed his rookie contract, the New York Giants have exercised a $5 million "buyback" option, raising to $20 million the amount of total bonus money that the quarterback has earned since he entered the league as the top overall choice in the 2004 draft.
Without the buyback bonus, the 2007 season would have been the last on Manning's deal, and he would have been eligible for unrestricted free agency next spring. Even with his inconsistent performance at times, the Giants weren't about to allow that to happen. The buyback means that Manning, who has been the team's starter since the second half of his rookie campaign, remains under contract to the Giants through the 2009 season.
| Pretty Obvious that this would happen, I bet they will hold onto him as long as they can. |

Rep Power: 0 | Manning will stay a Giant just like P.Manning will stay a Colt. With QB's its hard for teams to trade them. If they find a QB good, they won't let em go. So Manning will remain a Giant for his entire Career in my opinion. |

Not everyone is Bret Favre.

Rep Power: 0 | I think he need his receivers to come in and work with him more. Plax is supposedly going to do that. |

Rep Power: 0 | I don't know why they decided to keep Eli, he always let the Giants down throughout the season. He chokes like his brother, only worse. |

Rep Power: 0 | I think I would have drafted a quarterback and let manning go. To many mistakes when they mean the most. |

Rep Power: 0 | He is still young, and Peyton was a mistake machine too early in his career. He needs a good QB coach. A mentor to work with him on his mechanics, confidence, and decision making. All three appear to be an issue right now. |
